I recommend putting all of the art from each week in a single spoiler tag. Otherwise, after a few weeks the op will be massive.

How is the winner chosen? I suppose you could use the "liking" system as a voting system.

So, the winner is the person whose post gets the most "Likes".

 

If all the people who are saying they are going to participate actually do, then I don't think there needs to be a winner at all. Maybe just compliment the ones you like the most as encouragement of their hard work in lieu of naming a winner.

 

I think the concept of winning will encourage more people to participate.

 

It'll probably breed some unkind competition. I don't really see many advantages in doing so...

Sure there's a reward for that thread, to some extent. But I don't think there needs to be.

 

I've given it some thought, and I don't think that a weekly contest is a good idea per se, but there are other methods in which a player can be appreciated for his fine art

For example it may be an idea that we could have a monthly poll of your favourite fan art from the 4 weekly monsters of that period, and at the end of the month the poll would be collected and the top 3 could get an honorable mention at the end of the month. Then at the end of the month the previous months will be replaced with the new ones. This way there isnt necessarily a grand prize to spout unhealthy competition, but there is a chance for people to see their personal favourite piece of art placed in a drawings of the month section or something similar

Badges may be appropriate but not particularly for winning maybe just for being an active member in the thread and trying your best!

As for the competition, it would probably be nice for others if you disregard me from it. I don't really intend on joining any of it anyway. 'Sides, other people need to be recognized too!

Well, to elaborate a bit more, a "contest" may be nice, but I don't agree with the idea of a reward -- it's made for and by your enjoyment of the community, so there's really no need for anything more than a simple "Good job".
