Thanks to @Tsunder (a.k.a. Astraltor), the mod has been simplified and now relies on a modified lights.lua file instead of other files. Modpack now includes polights.lua and three patch files for the objects affected (torch, oillantern1, futurelight) and the issue I had mentioned before seems to be gone.
