Apologies for delayed response, was away from the forums for quite some time. I might just consider doing this at some point.

It's simply airbrushing.
For the most part I felt the old one was too dark to properly convey the smaller details, with such small images you have to exaggerate a good bit to make the point of what the subject is.

Interesting. I have to agree with ya, the lighter eh...lighting works better in this case. Though, I liked your old one too.

The old one worked fine here thanks to the larger avatars, but some forums, especially those based off the SMF code, have really tiny avatars.

Slowly on account of me feeling extremely unmotivated about art in the last week or so, no idea why but don't worry I haven't forgotten about it.

Ohh, ok yeah. basically the deal there is most of the requests in the request thread are either pixel art, more graphic design-y stuff, or just things I would consider entirely self-degrading to do.

If people want something drawn in a request thread, it's a much smarter idea to request more generalized 'neat' ideas and less personalized ideas that artists might find absolutely and utterly boring to create.
