What are your favourite Sci-fi melee weapons?

I would have to say covie energy swords and predator wrist blades top my list.

 

I agree with this. Maybe some sort of plasma Scythe?

 

That'd actually be quite awesome, Gurren Lagann is amazing and can be seen all over the place now, didn't it even start a small meme with Kamina's absurd glasses? Drill hammer would also be badass.

 

The first thing that comes to mind are light sabers or the Bat'lith. Those weapons resonate with all things Sci Fi and Melee. I would say may favorite being light sabers with vibroblades being a close second, but why not make a new sci-fi weapon? How about a quantum hammer(a hammer that smashes atoms on impact causing tiny black holes to tear at the fabric of space around impact), Or a jet blade ( a blade comprised of wind or water particles that cuts things in the same fashion as a water jet). I dunno these might seem like silly ideas, but the world needs a new sci-fi weapon.

 

Some kind of electric throwing knife/dagger, maybe strike lightning on contact with an enemy

 

Reaver weapons from firefly/serenity!

 

My favorite Space Melee weapons, well for starters those two handed sacrifical battle blades the klingon's used in Star Trek

I don't own the rights to this, just found it when i google searched "Tech Scythe" but something like that... Anything, as long as we get a Scythe!

 

What about Vi's gloves? They are steampunkish, though. Still, one can make them more futuristic... Maybe make finges Rayman-like? You know, floating around, you can charge them and shoot. It migh be a melee AND range weapon.

Yeah, they were putting his glasses on everything for a while. I liked that the creators were kinda poking fun at the absurdity of anime. I mean by the end they were throwing galaxies like ninja stars. Which in itself is a weapon idea. Galaxy ninja stars!

 

no need to make it futuristic, it can be a glitch tech

I have a few suggestions:

Can't go wrong with Scythe's-

Hammer with the same effect as the Gravity Hammer effect-

Short Swords with the same chain effect as "The Blades of Chaos"

Ultra Long Swords (This is an obvious must have in starbound) -

Some Melee/Ranged weapons (Another obvious must have) -

Thats just a few of my suggestions, I might post more in the near future.

Seriously though, I do like me a good Lightsaber.

 

Probably mentioned already but I would love to see some 'Gunblades' in the game.
I know you can dual wield a gun in 1 and and a sword in another but I would love to
have a Gunblade in 1 hand and a shield in the other.

 

I've not read through all 44 pages of this but hopefully I've got a few that have not been thought of. I'm including boomerang style things because they are labelled as melee damage in things like Terraria. Not all sci-fi either. You can probably tell I was looking at films!

Sick Stick - Minority Report, does little/no damage but gives debuffs (sickness - duh!)
Stun Baton - Demolition Man, similar idea different debuff...
Light Arc thingy - Blade Trinity, mixture of light saber and batleth. Kinda cool.
Mjolnir - the hammer of Thor, smashes things works a bit like a boomerang too!
Batarang - Batman, yea... just another tie in
Oddjob's Hat - Oddjob, stylish AND deadly

Would love to see legendary weapons like Mjolnir in the game. Also like the idea of the Sick Stick as a low damage but deadly debuffing style weapon.
