What are your favourite Sci-fi melee weapons?

I like how even though this thread is way ancient, no one calls for this one to die. I have only one explanation for it, but I'm sure that's obvious.

As for weapons, if I must be picky just take loads of weapon designs from Wildstar and call it good. Oh my, you wanted pictures? Well I'm too lazy and you're probably not even going to read this thread again (Due to it's age.) anyways. So why bother?

 

I was thinking more of Possessed Chaos Space Marines.

 

It would be interesting if you put in the tasp from the Ringworld series (Larry Niven). For those unfamiliar with a tasp, it basically targets the pleasure center of the brain, causing intensely pleasurable feelings. It's highly addicting, and those that have become slaves to the tasp will become intensely depressed if they lose access to it. This depression can lead to madness and suicide.

Not really a typical weapon. It's generally used as a means of control. Maybe something like it could be implemented as a way of keeping monsters from attacking you? A couple quick zaps from a tasp would easily make a creature your slave, or at the very least make it not want to attack you. Perhaps you could use it to sway monsters to fight along with you for a short period of time? May come in handy if you're being overwhelmed or are already pretty severely injured.

no, vanilla is a broadsword. Lightsaber is still a notch above that.

 

Gunblades would be amazing.
Chainsaw swords would be amazing.
Metal claws would be amazing.

 

We need the Klingon battle axe from Star Trek, make it happen

 

The Nukehammer. I want a hammer that causes a vast explosion on hit, wtih only a slight delay. The only way to survive your own blows is to leap away, start up a jetpack or whatever other fast mode of transport you have, and run for your life. Most of the time, it should end up a suicide.

Nah man. When I think scifi weapons, the first thing that comes to mind is a lightsaber, then respectably a laser blaster. A broadsword, is more of a medieval/fantasy type weapon.

 

Also, Flails would be neat .

 

Electric orb surrounding the fist. Shock punch, doubles as block.

 

I'm sorry Tiy but if you don't put in tanks and chainswords how can we do this?

Favourite, hm.... Possibly a plasma gun like in Quake 3.

Not sure really. Psiblades sound interesting also though. Or even like "sci-fi'd" melee weapons like the katana in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
