What are your favourite Sci-fi melee weapons?

A chain blade, swung around as a whip. Sharp so that you cut your enemies, different versions could include burning hot chains, freezing cold chains, electric chains and so on. They should have their own unique physics so they wave and whip like a real chain. Possibly combos that make it look elegant.

I'll add the Shishkebab from Fallout.

I mean, come on, it's a machete that's on fire!
And the Gunhammer from Monster Hunter and other Japanese games.

Because the only thing you can do to improve the experience of smashing your enemies with a gigantic hammer, is adding explosions to it.

The Gauntlet from Quake 3 Arena, because who doesn't want their own personal weaponized sawblade that fits on their right arm.

And Halo gravity hammers they could be fun as! Could have Griffball in Starbound :O

 

There has to be some sort of Vorpal Blade, right?

I also HAVE TO mention the best two-handed sword I ever saw.
It's a weapon from Maple Story game called Ribgol Sword or Stonetooth Sword - I liked it so much I never changed it to other sword even with better stats

 

That's Renji's blade from Bleach. The graphic has been used in a number of different games, cause it's so cool

 

Not exactly sci-fi but... The Crissaegrim from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

 

Gun-lances like in FFXIV! or polearms in general, with energy cutting edge! YEAH

...If that makes any sense. Actually, I don't think I even know what I just said, come to think of it...
But what I mean is: I like the Laser Rapier from the System Shock series. ...Which is a lot like a lightsaber, now that I think of it... but it's not..?
