Would it be possible to remove ropes from all loot tables? My only complaint is now my inventory is full of them.
It would yes, but I have no idea how as of this moment. I might look into it, or at least make them stack again.

Can you make an alternate version where the rope is reusable but has degrading durability or just a small chance to break at random
i feel like the vanilla rope is too cheap if it has infinite durability. it'd be great if you could make it cost more plant fiber and replace the rope spawns in treasure pools with plant fiber.
or maybe a second, different type of rope that takes a bit of normal rope to make, but doesn't break.
