You'd be surprised at how well it works. EDIT: Additionally, you form some of the most telling alliances now, as well as get a rough idea of who or what is important. While this is often useful for scum, it is also incredibly useful for protective and support roles.
With RVS I just somehow always end up killing a civ. Besides, it's not my style. I'd rather sit in the back and give people space to make mistakes. Yeah, but some just take it more casually and end up accidentally looking like penguins. Like Squid... I'd rather look for differences between a persons civ and penguin play style.
They don't always know. Right now, (I don't know you well enough yet to know if it was intentional or not) you distanced yourself from the pressure strat, while using it on Hunter, Dragonclaw, and I. That's effective, and was for the most part subtle. You just gotta put effort into pressure if it's to work. EDIT: Also I may or may not be able to respond in the next few hours. Currently trying to sort some issues with a mod on another forum, and the timing makes me almost completely sure there was a mistake.

Maybe you didn't do it on purpose, but by suggesting that you'll pay closer attention to somebody DOES pressure them, albeit only a little.
