I'm not even sure myself what I'm saying. I like the descriptions but they might sorta distance them from the originals. I guess I also think some variants are so apart from the originals that they might as well be their own roles.The numerous penguin goons share almost nothing in common and the two PI:s function completely differently (Heck the penguin investigator confounder doesn't even investicate people).
I made a mistake. Nothing new under the sun, but the thing is I made the day too long. The post said it was to end on 30th, even though I intended it to be 29th. I don't want the days be too long. Day 6 is one irl day shorter now. The Day ends 12AM UTC / 8AM EST on Wednesday 29th June. Hmm, I see. Two reasons the goons are so different. 1. They're so unique they would never get any variants of their own. 2. I don't want to write so many unique, long descriptions for the Penguin variant roles, like I do with the main roles. Laziness, essentially. Which basically sums up the variants, which I added because they make it easy to add roles that revolve around similar actions/concepts as the existing ones. (Like Sheriff & its variants are all about investigating actions players take.) But I don't see why it makes a difference, the variants are just a few clicks further in the role list. The brackets make it clear it's a variant, so finding it isn't so difficult. Maybe I do something to the role list for the next game. At least I want everything to be in order when the next GM takes my place, so they have it easier. Confounder is not a PI variant, Obscurantist is. And it does investigate, if it hides a role successfully at the end of the night. It investigates the role of the dying player whose role it obscured. It's... not clearly stated, nopey, I admit that. I oughta rethink the description.
