I was hoping for something zettan. I keep hearing about this parallel dimension but I've never seen anything about it.

 

The book is in fact the Zettan artifact called the book of everything, which already is a sentient book that hates Zetta.

 

Wait... it's sentient?!

Shouldn't the object be inanimate? If the book has any sort of autonomy then I think that's out of the theme.

 

The book itself isnt really sentient but you would have to know a bit more about the Zettaverse for the explanation to make any sense

 

Well, if someone does something with the book, rather than it expontaneously doing something, then it's fine.

As a robot, if I power down, I could be considered an inanimate object. But since I require no external inpit in order to function otherwise, I am disqualified.

Well apparently inanimate objects translates to plushies and action figures.
Which is pretty awesome.
