Well, thanks for alerting about the mockup thingy.
Maybe I am just imagining things...

Many people have suggested creature breeding. While it may be code-heavy it would prove to be the best stretch goal so fa.r

Yes please pets. I love pets in games. They add a lot of extra fun especially if there are rare ones to find/collect.

But seriously now, what if I don't want to start the game with a pet.

I voted yes, but I would prefer that the other parts of the game get more love, particularly non-planet locations to explore (e.g. Space stations, asteroids, derelict ships). From memory it was said that they would be added later after the game was released, due to time constraints, extra funding could push it forwards for release as well.

    ;)

then simply opt out? the same way you can choose to go without a shirt as all the races it'll make sense to choose no pets if you won't want to.

your just plain rude and wrong. you must have failed at humanity.
"Since time is 'relative' to the person marking it, and we're 47 million light years distant from the source...the event took place 47 million years ago relative to our position in space. Since time is relative every observer who sees this event ,no matter where in the universe the observer may be, to that observer his is the 'correct' time scale."

the above quote is about a black hole that swallowed a planet recently.....or was it recent???

I believe that it is already a feature within the game.

Someone said pets are a little unimpressive for a stretch goal.
    I say -- WHAT?!
Pets add a million new features! Of course they don't if the devs want to keep it a small and cute thing, BUT :
1)Simple and cute pets in the beginning, nothing special.
2)They could add a breeding system, i would spend weeks worth of playtime on that.
3)Legendary pets add little cool bonuses, like a reborn after death (phoenix),or a grappling hook (little...vine monster...thing?) or maybe they could freeze enemies and stuff, or smell hidden items. You know ,nothing gamebreaking, just a little thing your legendary pet can do to help you and show his love.
    4) An archeology system to discover new pets from fossils! JURASSIC PARK STYLE! RAWR!(me want dinosaur :<)
    5) Pets could fight each other...maybe not.
    6) pets could watch your house and kill the monsters that get close to it, or fetch you random items.
    7) Inoculating yourself with a pets dna to get his abilities?

    The possibilities are ENDLESS!!!
But anyway, you guys are doing a great job developing the game further, almost everyday i see big chunks of those bars filling up!
For starters i would just add the point (1) , and maybe add more features to the pets with patches, we want a beta as soon as possible :)

Well if we have NPCs that follow us, what would PETS add? Because in essence aren't pets npc's that follow you around and help?

Well, I like it more this way, but I still think it would be better to buy the animals in the settlements.

Yeah, I've actually read a couple of people expressing a fear of a pet being forced on them. Honestly, I truly don't think a pet will ever be forced onto the player. It's been stated that each race will have a choice of pets. It wouldn't be hard to make one of those choices 'no pet'. The devs are trying to implement something people will enjoy and I'm sure they understand that not everybody will want a pet.

You can already tame monsters and have them as combat pets, right? Non-combat pets are useless and a waste.

We already have a system where you can capture monsters and train them to do pretty much what you just wrote about.

Thing is, with the money from pre-orders, they can hire other people who can work on such things without impacting development on other things. The Novakid goal is going to hiring some extra people to do that. It won't have any impact on the other things. This one will go to get someone who can make and code simple pets.

    You are also wrong.

"A light-year, also light year or lightyear (symbol: ly), is a unit of length equal to just under 10 million million kilometres (or about 6 million million miles). As defined by the International Astronomical Union (IAU), a light-year is the distance that light travels in a vacuum in one Julian year.[1]
The light-year is mostly used to express distances to stars and other distances on a galactic scale, especially in non-specialist and popular science publications. The preferred unit in astrometry is the parsec (approximately 3.26 light-years), because it can be more easily derived from, and compared with, observational data.[1]
Note that the light-year is a measure of distance. It is not a measure of time, for which it is sometimes mistaken."

Quote from the actual wikipedia page on light years.

Buying them would also be cool. I don't want what I wrote to sound like Pokemon (catching them all sort of) but there could even be a combination. Wild animals that you could risk taming, or you could just buy ones from the villages, maybe have a change to generate a village that sells rare ones. There's so many options.
