I'm glad Chucklefish is actually trying to make some deep lore, since the last two "big" sandbox games I played, Terraria and Minecraft, are about as deep as a kiddie pool that hasn't seen water in a decade and was jettisoned into the sun.

 

I wouldn't mind getting more of the back stories with the races. I liked the ones posted so far, so I am interested in what the other have to offer. But if other bits of lore are released I would like mine redacted so I don't get any spoilers.

 

Only the Proles are allowed to have the porn. To keep them preoccupied, of course.

 

It wouldn't matter to me if the whole preliminary story was given out, I'm still playing the game.
Yeah I know Dumbledor Dies, yet I still read the books. Isn't that something... lol

 

I'm awake again! Let me promise you that Starbound lore, even in its fledgling state right now, is way deeper than Minecraft and Terraria combined.

As a TES-lore junkie, lore in Starbound sounds like an amazing idea to me!

 

Starbound is shaping out to be a very roleplay-friendly game.

On a half-related note, can we write our own books in-game?

 

I voted yes. Why? Although I won't be reading it and will be avoiding all information on it like the plague.. It's easy to do that. No point in me trying to take away the joy from the people who 'do' want it, just to make it moderately easier for me to avoid.

I dunno, I think I want the general Human and Hylotl backstories out there before they start showing us the more in-depth things. One foot in front of the other and all that.

 

To be honest I care a lot more about the story than I do about the lore. I guess that means I don't mind if he releases the lore document because it's not that big of a deal to me.

 

The lore is the story -- just some small subsection that interests you for a bit.

Like that description of the interesting place in the strange land where jellyfish fly like birds.

 

The way I see it the lore is more like the history of the planets and the species. I mean you could understand the whole story without reading any lore.

 

They add a certain three-dimensionality -- meat on the skeletons, so as to say.

Well I would hope so, Terraria didn't have lore.
