Happy Monday! We've pushed a new patch to the unstable branch - mostly to address some bugs, but we've implemented a couple of small features, too! Added upgraded graphics for all upgradeable weapons Celebrate the holidays with the variety of festive items bought from Space Santa at the Outpost! More areas added to ancient vaults Improvements to loading speed for dungeon worlds Various bugfixes and tweaks to boss behavior and sounds Fixed an issue where crew would duplicate Thanks to everyone who's played the unstable update and provided feedback so far! A stable update isn't far away.
By more areas, does that mean they generate larger? Or there are more rooms possible to generate? Or both?
I like it. Perhaps you could bump up the scale to make up for how much stuff it takes to terraform though... make it less of a grind by consolidating the many dungeons they would explore into maybe half as many. Perhaps increase drop rate of the stuff as well.
Getting coal for Christmas would be an even bigger insult on Starbound, so easily found resource that you pretty much can't help but mine up. I don't mind events on Starbound unlike other games, there is always console commands if you really want something badly enough though with that said getting it legit from Santa himself have some bragging rights (though hard to prove outside of season) and feel much more festive.
I found a bug with the terraformers. That's a custom biome and matching terraformer, in an area that had no grass before I activated it. If I generate an all-new world with the same biome, its grass is purple.
I don't have time before leaving for work(now LOL) to unpack this and look, but if you guys didn't notice I reported, tracked down, and fixed a colony deed issue. See nightly support forum for more details.
Here's a bit of a long read, but this is everything I felt needed commenting on with the newest additions; Code: I. Santa - No Holiday Forge, everything bought with pixels - Present monsters seemingly not present II. Weapon Upgrades - The following weapons have satisfactory appearances when upgraded; - Boomerang - Molten Boomerang - Frozen Boomerang - Gnome Gun - Neo Chakram - Flamethrower - Firestorm's Fury - The following weapons are okay, and I can't think of any other comments: - Tesla's Wrath - Stun Glove - Intestine Whip - Vintage Scoped Rifle - The following weapons are very lacking in appearance when upgraded; - Cartilage Gun - Reason: It's so tiny that any extra details make it look cluttered - Soulseeker - Reason: It loses detail and gains nothing from it - Worm Gun - Reason: There's nothing that can make it look good - Lunarang - Reason: Recolors are never good - Giant Worm - Reason: Same as above - Poison Bow - Reason: Stripes and a green string don't make it look upgraded - Chakram - Reason: It's too big now - Hard Chakram - Reason: Same as Lunarang and Giant Worm - Saw Chakram - Reason: It doesn't even look like a saw anymore - Claw Glove - Reason: One more claw, wow - Gauntlet - Reason: A stripe and bolder colors don't help it much - Vine Fist - Reason: Christmas lights? - Hokucide - Reason: It just got thicker - Time Pierce - Reason: Gold tip isn't very appealing by itself - Rope Whip - Reason: Gold stripe, nothing else? - Vine Whip - Reason: Random amethyst pieces, and lower damage than other whips - Oculus Reaver - Reason: It looks less intimidating, needs more spikes and jagged edges - Adaptable Crossbow - Reason: It just gets a pump on top? - Ixodoom Claw - Reason: Iron doesn't suit it - Kluex Staff - Reason: One extra gem, wow - Miniknog Launcher - Reason: Why can't we upgrade this? - Dragonhead Pistol - Reason: Same as above I don't want to comment on the Procedural bosses or the vaults. I just don't like them since they don't feel rewarding or fun. For modders, how do we make our own upgrade weapons? Does it work by just adding the "upgradeParameters" lines in the upgraded weapons' activeitem files to our own?
No thoughts on the upgraded Solus Katana? Miniknog Launcher and Dragonhead pistol can't be upgraded because of their default power level, only items below a certain level can be upgraded (Explained in the last Unstable Update report) For the record, I don't like the upgraded Katana, mainly because it just isn't a Katana anymore.
Heresy. There's nothing that can make it look bad. On a side note, only the Time Pierce, the Vine Whip and maybe Tesla's Wrath look a little lacking. The new version of the Solus Katana keeps the normal katana shape, so a lot of people will be happy with that (although I was one of the few who actually liked the zig-zag look). I also love the look of the Oculus Reaver.
I love Starbound. The hover cars are a bit janky, and id like to see more 'tech' powers, but all in all, its a dream come true. More is never a bad thing.
With the clones fixed, does it actually make them disappear in game or does it only account for the bug in fresh worlds? Just curious. I already have the clones, and have had them for a long time. (They annoy the crap out of me.) I'd rather not get rid of my crew that I built from the first world I colonized but if I have to, I will.
Finally. That was annoying. Also, I am very eager to use this update and upgrade my stuff. So glad the Adaptable Crossbow will be useful again. Question, though? Will this break our teleporter lists and time-based events again? That was a pain last time, and my server players have only visited more planets that I have to admin-teleport to and sort out. That was the reason I had to come up with my current planet naming convention. I couldn't remember 75 planet names! I named my base planet Songbird, then for others I resorted to 2 to 4 letters denoting the type of planet, then the first 2 or 3 letters of the two system words, then the number of the planet.
Such a long-standing bug that has eluded many people hunting for it's cause. This one bug had caused many people such grief... And you just dismissed it with one sentence... ...I like how you roll Chucklefish.
Well, they fixed AN issue. As in, they expect there to be different ones they were not yet able to track down. See http://community.playstarbound.com/threads/duplicate-crew.119293/page-7#post-3073888 for further info on the fixed bug.
It's nice to see crew glitch fixed. Just one question, what does "Added upgraded graphics for all upgradeable weapons" mean? I don't see any difference in appearance of my upgraded weapons. @ edit: Ah, I get it now. Only weapons upgraded after this update will have new appearances.
