Server/Player list

Is there a way to make a discovery option and see who's playing? Any chance of some sort of centralized server maybe? I feel like there would be a lot more players if it was easier to play with other people. All my buddies are console gamers, and I'm in Japan. I don't know who's close enough (on forums) to play with in regards to latency and it's difficult to coordinate a good co-op game. Idk if the devs intended to have strangers playing together, but I feel it would encourage people to play if they always had someone they could play with.
