Feedback "Post Updated" does not generate thread alert

A new-ish feature of the forum seemingly allows posts to be merged with the text "Post Updated" added. However, unlike normal posting, this feature does not generate an alert to let users know if a thread has been replied to or not. This also prevents subsequent new posts from generating an alert, meaning watched threads will not be seen in the Alerts tracker if anyone has used said feature in that thread recently. Users have to check "Watched Threads" every so often to catch any threads with posts which have been missed out on. Would prefer it if there was an alert generated when a post is updated, so checking "Watched Threads" for heavy traffic threads would not be necessary.
