Wait, could you disable the generator, add a bunch of cool new passages and rooms, fill it up with some sweet furniture, power the generator back up and have an indestructible base? :O Or wait to destroy the generator, and fight bosses from the entrance of the base? Since the blocks can't be destroyed, bosses can't use block-destroying attacks, right?
You have to destroy the generator to disable it, so no to your first question. But the second question would be yes, the way things are currently. Unless they give the boss's attacks the ability to break dungeon blocks. Spoiler: I fought the jelly monster rather cheaply in an open section of the human prisons long before this feature was implemented. There's always ways to wuss out on boss battles.
i have a awesome idea with these, when you upgrade your ship you get maybe a small shield generator then it grows the more your ship does, you should also require it for when you warp to a astroid field so your ship doesnt take damge from them, also for when ship battles are released so when the openent fires it stops maybe half or so damge like FTL.
Shield generator should also be an item that the player can make, he can use it to prevent destruction from buildings me made.
What tier armor did the human in that video have? Or was it Dev mode infinite health or something? Genuinely curious. Just the 20-25 damage per tick shown in the video would have killed most armor tiers with that many oops moments on screen at once with no edits between them.
In the case of the naturalcave dungeon, this one may go without a shield generator, as it's supposed to be a natural environment. Still weighing up on that one. My train of thought currently was to make it so that some dungeons have light sources that are turned off until the player turns them on, encouraging use of the flashlight and to naturally uncover the dungeon as they explore (this functionality with lights didn't exist until fairly recently). If nothing else I'll certainly be trying to find a good balance.
Looks to be tons o' fun. As someone with a level of experience with programming and making games: Inb4 the mile-long list of ways to make the shield generator mechanic have a great big crackfit and allow the player to break through blocks when they shouldn't be able to, and may the inevitable bugfixing spree be relatively low on hassle.
are you actually serious? Well, it's not like I can't just use Blink or something to speed through it.
if you make a mod (or get one) to allow you to do that, i suppose that could be considered cheating. if you don't find it that way it's entirely on you xD personally, i just find it fun to get through the dungeons the vanilla way, even if i do made the 'blink through walls' mod. ^^ unless i'm in a terrible hurry.
