No Pet Event for the Last Two Playthroughs (BUG?)

So on my first play through of the game I got my pet which was a dog sometime in Spring, (can't remember the exact day). However, I started a new game after I figured out the game mechanics, and the pet event never triggered for me. Currently, in the middle of the Summer, still no pet event. So I decided to start ANOTHER new game in the hopes of the event happening, and alass, no pet still. Does anyone know if this is a Bug or is there anyway to get my pet event to happen through the coding?

Sorry for the double post however after my 9th attempt ( no joke) finally have my dog event. Apparently what I did different is that I did not skip any cut scene including the beginning cut scene. I this just a weird bug in game? / Did it happened to anyone else?
