Lost items in space due to slow ship rendering

Please help me,
I was doing the "Deadwing" mission, and well quite obviously I did not have very good equipment, cause I died pretty fast
but that's beside the point
When I died, I hit escape really fast and then I spawned in space, but my ship didn't, at all, so I just started falling, and then I hit the "space floor" and died.
when I re-spawned the next time, my ship was there and I was stuck in it, with all of my blocks and precious loot at the bottom of space, with no way to get out of the ship, at all
at least that's what I think
Please, and there a known resolution to this problem?

Exactly this. Quite annoying.

 

Exit the game and restore a backup player file that the game automatically makes.
