Tutorial Just a tip: You can leave the starting system

    If you're sitting on the captain's chair right after the jump between planets is complete (while the screen says "Initializing Navigation Systems"), it'll bring you to the starmap rather than locking you to the system. Then you can scroll around and pick whatever star you want. Just know that clicking on one will lock you to it until you warp again.
