Unfortunately I'm not on the computer where my starbound is installed so I can't do a quick skim over the .object files to check if you have made any mistakes. Most of the problems people have with generic items is to do with simple things such as small little typos; try checking your punctuation etc.
Possibly, and this is a bit of a guess, its the extra quotation marks in the description text. Its the only thing I've noticed so far that seems different.
Yep turns out it was the quotation marks inside the .object file that was screwing with it. Thanks for the help! Now I have an awesome statue to commemorate my (wiped) first character.
