Hm, as far as i recall: 3 Apex research facilities, about 25-30 mini biomes, outpost, apex, uscm 1 large Apex parcours 1 large uscm-base. can't tell how much pixels converted. btw, reached the front: ps: building the last part today has eaten up about 27500 blocks of steel. pps: was curious, ran from rear to front in 5:04 minutes ppps:tried to remember and think until now I used something like 200-250k pixels.
Had a busy weekend so there was no time for further progress. But I found that little piece: and dismanteled it whole: 22k blocks of pressurized steel 17k wall panels several k blocks of pressurized beam etc. plus five mini biomes in the surrounding, some k blocks of smooth metal and furniture. Still am farming for materials, so please be patient for the next construction footage. By the way, suggestions and the such are welcome. Keeping track of biomes and dungeons I raid for the ship. And roughly the ammount of pixels burnt ps: I apologize for my grammar, if there is any. Am better in reading english edit: 3 Apex research facilities, 60 mini biomes, outpost, apex, uscm 1 large Apex parcours 1 large uscm-base 1 pyramid/tomb 250k pixels got raw materials for about 150k pixels in reserve next step is to fly to a gentle star to hoard iron/steel. at the moment i strip down a small radiated planet, lots of titanium and mini-biomes that nearly overwhelm my storage capabilities. hope to post next pictures from the shipyard by the end of the week. /edit
Started to add some detail to existing background and added first part of junkyard/waste deposit at the upper end: It will span about 3-4 decks, but now I wonder if the added structure is suitable. Especially in the lower parts where it's only paint. edit: Want to implement guiding lines like the blue one here to lead to different parts of the ship. I.e. Red ->machine room, blue ->bridge... simple but functional I think. /edit
The guidelines are a great idea. I'm not sure about the structural detail paint. It certainly makes those rooms look a little more interesting at least.
Command tower front completed, forgot to screenshot. Upper hull, halfway to the front: had some trouble with asteroids...
Something went terribly wrong, miscalculated at some point. didn't figured it out but made some corrections... uhm, changed plans and reconstructed a large part.... twice, as you can see at the asteroid: first it was the upper tunnel, then started the second one, figured out while digging it, that it wont reach the designated point at the front either, and made another try including mediocre changes to whole upper section. Now the upper main hull is installed, titanium coating and background steelblocks i'll add later. Yay!
Not that much, had two rainy days so I had some hours since monday to solve it. Boring but now it's done. And here's the not-ready build of the bridge:
No new pics for now, just discovered another pyramid/tomb and a uscm base that give me plenty of stuff to continue as i strip them down. And i figured out where my first and biggest mistake is located. First thing i built was the upper rear, changed scaling after that and so came that i didn't reach the front properly without massive changes. Now it's too late, whole thing will be 40 meters higher than original. okay for me... edit: started work on hangar bay:
More progress on hangar bay, but lack lunar base platforms. That will become the "tower"/ flight control. As everything until now a... uhm, bit raw. By the way, spent over half a million pixels and stored 50k smooth metal blocks, that will make up most of the background. I think i'll need more like 500k of these but i'm not yet sure about that for there will be large parts in different design as hangar, bridge (as seen earlier in this thread), engineering section and whatnot. I still try to close the hull, what's nearly done and then fill up as much of the interior as possible. Detail work i'll take care of after that. Hope I don't bore you with showing off my small progression on a dozen fronts. Thanks for your patience! edit: lower rear and front: /edit
Distance markings, length and height, in relativity to different parts of the ship. Markings at the rear count from the middle axis down, one block is ten, three blocks in a row marks a hundred, three block with gaps mark fifty. edit: at the lower rear are green markings that are obsolete now. Wanted to end up in that area, due to material shortage at the hangar i abandoned that idea and trust in my calculations... this time hopefully right /edit edit2: some background for main engine energy lane: maybe i have some pics later this evening. /edit edit2: did some background today and added a "door" to the elevator: /edit2 edit3: calculations were right this time edit/
I think that heat sink should have had both pipes go through the same end (the closer one) to free the view above the heatsink fins. Just my constructive criticism.
