input not being Registered

i am trying to play risk of rain. this is the second time ive booted up risk of rain and when i try and start to play i cant move.i am unable to use any abilities item or move.i have uninstalled and reinstalled the game and yet i still cant move when i play.when going to options to change controlls it registers all the button. ill switch left arrow to a and i still cant move.the only thing being registered is the mouse movement mouse click space and esc.

 

In the Options under Controls(Gamepad) , is Gamepad Support turned on? Because if it is, that prevents all keyboard movement while is is turned on. If thats not the problem then I have no idea whats wrong or how o try and fix it :/
