I should probably avoid doing that in games which characters fall in love with each other.
Might make relating stories slightly more.. awkward.

 

Fucking Cryssalids. Thats all i have to say.

Shotguns work amazing on them. So do sniper rifles. Alloy shooting shotguns are amazing. Laser shotguns are a good substitute.
Automatic weapons are ok. Heavy chaingun things are good stuff. Shotguns are better.
What i would do is have a heavy shoot at the Cryssalid to holo them (they need holo targeting. my entire strategy revolves around holo targeting actually, since it raises the hit chance a lot, and also stacks with other holos), then move in with a higher end assault with a shotgun, then use suppressing fire from an assist, and hopefully finish them off with whatever else was left, or set them all on overwatch.
Usually a team of three could take them down though, especially if most of the shots are point blank.
Also zombies that have not risen do not count as enemy until they have risen, and those do not count until the turn after they have.
Also with the addition of the required ones, (run and gun and conditioning)
close and personal, rapid fire, and close combat specialist, backed with killer instinct (which is activated when you use run and gun) + shotgun = lots and lots of dead things.
They automatically get a reaction shot within 4 tiles, which guess what that means? Is right in their range for a good 70-90% shot and since its a shotgun has a massive chance of crit hitting, backed by close and personal if they are right next to their target which adds a 30% crit chance, and if thats the turn they used run and gun adds 50% damage on every shot taken (which is every target that gets close to them until they run out of ammo)
And the best part is, they dont need over watch active to do this. Several times i had camped my shotgunner at a bottleneck, and they gunned down every single bastard that dared to walk through the door. It was beautiful. She actually one shot some mutons and berserkers a few times.

I need to restart my XCOM playthrough, I ragequit after the game continually crashed on one base raid.
I could restart and name them after you guys unless someone doesn't want that.
I think I only lost one trooper in my playthrough, his damn stun gun failed a 90% encounter.

Actually mine on my game was a sniper, and a damn good one at that, especially after the target was holoed. DOUBLE SHOT!

 

Yeah, redownloading XCOM now, hopefully there won't be a crippling bug somewhere that verify won't catch.

 

Was going to make you a shotgunner after your paragraph, sniper works too.
Infact sniper is almost always MVP in my rounds.

 

Im actually waiting for enemy within expansion pack to come out.

...Brite died horribly...he failed a 95% hit with a plasma rifle...The cryssalid then had it's way with his body.

 

Irl id be a sniper, i have a damn good aim (though ive never shot a gun before xD, but projectiles are really simple to me, and in games i almost always play as a sniper. I do terrible in close combat)

My personal sniper had squad sight, damn good ground, disabling shot, executioner, and double tap.
Though i will change the disabling shot with the battle scanner most certainly.
Executioner might get changed with the other, same with double tap, it depends on how much damage im doing and how good a shot my character is. In the Zone is way over powered if you know how to use it, and your character can pull the shots, especially when backed with several damage buffs.
