There is not really a hard parts limit
But there is a soft one
At least on my computer (very nice for its time, but a bit under two years old at this point), anything over 2000 parts will reliably crash and anything over 1000 is pretty laggy.

Also, Fun Fact:
I always called the Magic Turbines "GO GO STAR POWER" or variants of that
Then I described it to a guy on a KMP server and he called it a magic turbine
And the name just sort of stuck and I have called it that ever since

Also:
I did not invent the Magic Turbine, but I have only ever seen one other person make it (excluding people I showed)

I made some stupid rocket by accident that had at least 2500 tiny rockets on it. It was fun.

 

They're made all the time according to KSP's subreddit
