It wasn't a private message? As I can't track anything down either. (I'm assuming random conversation is an exact phrase he used. No related profile posts with random conversation in them, and I couldn't find in forum posts anything related to random messages and you. (Although, I'm not entirely sure where you post, nothing jumped out as likely to be related to you.)
You can see your full list of conversations/private messages by mousing over the inbox and clicking show all.

Did you reply to that post? If so, it may be easier to track that down as your profile has a tab with all your activities. Just look for your posts from january.
