Bug/Issue Game only responds to certain inputs

I didn't play the game for a couple of days and I believe there was an update in the meantime. Since when I click something on the start menu I can then only do specific things e.g. on New Game I can type in a name and then have to tab between the text boxes but can't adjust hair type etc, start a new game nor go back to the start menu; when loading a new game I can only click on a new game, I cannot go back; and once I get into game I can only press esc. The game detects mouseover events but not clicks or (most) button presses.

I have tried rebooting, verifying game files and redownloading the game. My mouse and keyboard work fine in other games. They are both logitech devices.

 

Do you happen to have Synergy (http://synergy-project.org/) installed? I was having this exact problem and uninstalling Synergy fixed it.
