RP Emergence of the Forgotten

Joseph hopped down from the roof behind the boy, then picked the cloak off of his shoulder, putting it on. 'Thanks for bringing this. What do I owe you?' He pulls a small coinpurse from his pocket.

 

Prey was slightly startled upon hearing the knock at the door. He had been sitting upright on his bed reading a book as Kruxen floated nearby.
"Yes?" He called out to the visitor without getting up. His eyes instinctively looked towards his short sword and shield to the left of the bed.

 

The boy looked at Joseph and for a moment his visage shifted into a more feline one before turning back, and he smiled. “We don’t need any money, the many… visitors… made sure of that.” He seemed distracted for a few seconds before speaking again. “My other half keeps whining that we have to take you to your friends, so I guess we have to take you there now.” He shrugged and pulled out a small wooden totem from within his clothes, the totem glowing as he touched the door. “Good luck.” He laughed and opened the door, the room that had previously been beyond it replaced with a room with several guards at every conceivable way to leave the room. As he did so, everything, except a sphere with Joseph and the door inside, faded out of view, though the room with the guards seemed unaffected.

“Is there someone in here with a large frightening Guardian?” Vivienne said from the other side of the door. “If so, then one of the guides wants you to follow me to the meeting place.” She doubted he would be able to keep up with her if she moved at full speed, so she’d have to slow down to let him keep up, but they should still be able to make it there in good time. Now that she thought about it, he still might not be the right person, but she’d just have to wait and see.

 

Joseph looked around. 'Dimensional abilties...... cool.' He put on hisa cloak andoff stepped through door, his hands near his weapons.

 

After Joseph passed through the door it slammed shut behind him before a guard off to his left pushed open the door behind Joseph. All the guards simultaneously lifted their right arms and pointed to the door, which was letting a breeze in from outside. From beyond the door sunlight shone in and the sound of a man talking could easily be heard past the sound of a nearby tree rustling in the wind.

“Looks like another of your companions has arrived.” Ivan said, pointing towards a door that led out of the inn to where they were. “Looks like the only one we're waiting for is... Prey, Pay... something like that, so we have to decide whether to leave and let him catch up, or wait for him to arrive here and then leave. Either choice works for us, but there is also another matter to discuss when the one inside comes out."

 

Joseph looks at the guards, a little bit weird out. 'Okay, I guess I should go this way then.....' He trails off and looks around at the guards again, then lightly walks past the guard holding open the door. He spots two of his companions standing next to an intimidating looking man, and overhears the last bit of his sentence. 'What do you need to discuss?' He says walking up to them.

 

Ivan acknowledged Joseph’s presence with a nod before resuming. “What we need to discuss is two things, events that have happened since yesterday and where we’ll be heading first, though we could always wait for your other companion before discussing that if you all wish so. Regardless, four of the five families decided that Ichrod, with its lack of many cities, would serve as the perfect place to divert most of those creatures when they appear in this world. The only family that didn’t voice in an opinion was the Bari family as their representatives are currently… busy doing other things that they felt were more important. Due to this, Ichrod might be more dangerous if we end up visiting there before the spells wear off. As for possible locations that might help us stop the creatures’ appearances, I’ll let you three decide whether to talk now or later about our first destination.” He turned his face to the right and the sound of something coming could be heard before Prey suddenly appeared to Ivan's left with Vivienne between them. Ivan turned to Joseph and smiled, his face covered with a visage of a mockery of a human face before his chains glowed and the false face vanished. “Before I forget to introduce myself, my name is Ivan, and I was asked to make sure you don’t get killed off too easily, and this is my… partner for the duration of the trip, who will find the best path for us to follow.”

“Well, since you’re all here now I guess I’ll have to tell you a little about where we could potentially go. First is Ichrod, which could help us since they have a very deep understanding on how to seal away creatures and such, but in its current condition it will likely be very dangerous. Another possibility is Fesul, which has the most well-known military in all the lands, so we might be able to get recruits or maybe even fully trained soldiers from them. The third possibility that has been thought of to stop the creatures is trying to obtain the artifact from the Maze, but I’m honestly not sure how that would help.” He scratched his head as he said this last sentence. “We have also debated whether obtaining help from the Five Families might help, seeing as they have armies, equipment, magical items, artifacts, and even Relics, but you’d have to go to each of their countries and ask the current heads of the families for help, and I doubt they’d give help very easily. Regardless of whether you decide to follow things that we think might help or simply visit the Five Families, you’ll end up meeting the Bari Family and the Azuan Family at some point.”

 

'What do you all think?' He adresses the rest of the group. 'The only one who the Maze artifact would likely help is me because of my illusionary magic, so that is out for now. The extra help from the families sounds helpful, but they are probably to caught up in their squables to care about this problem. Ichrod sounds like our best bet, because we could likely find a lot of knowledge there about what's going on. However, Prey likely won't exactly be welcome there, due to his inability to hide Kruex. This is a redicament.'

 

"I'm not sure..." Prey answered, "I don't think getting military help would be too beneficial, and we wouldn't want so many casualties. Visiting the Five Families sounds like it could be hopeless despite how much time it would take, and as for Ichrod and the Maze, we don't know if the artifact or the knowledge in Ichrod could help us. Do you have an idea of which one you think would be best?"

 

Omin had a chuckle, noting, "We can find a way to put Kruxen in a crate, or box, no?"

 

'I think that would be more than a tad bit suspicious, no?'

 

"Isn't a floating Tiki full of souls already suspicious."

 

Ivan continued listening to the argument until he felt he had to say something, a smile on his face as if he thought something they said was funny. “Who even told you about Ichrod’s intolerance? I think whoever it was has not told you the whole story. Ichrod’s border cities for the most part have citizens from both areas in them, so the chance of anything happening from bringing your ‘floating tiki’ is very little.” For a moment he stopped talking before resuming again. "Now that I think about it, there was another possibility that could help us stop them, but it's one that has multiple different possible destinations. This possibility is seeking knowledge on summoning magic from either a place of knowledge or directly from a powerful summoner, which could lead us to a method of preventing any more creatures from being summoned."

 

'Well, there was a pretty powerful summoner in the tournament, he was also from Ichrod.'

 

"I don't remember seeing any summoners in the tournament from Ichrod, but then again I did have to deal with someone annoying during the tournament so I might have missed them." Ivan replied, mentally recalling what he had seen at the tournament before he realized what he had accidentally said. It didn't really matter now, but it could make the people he was escorting angry at him for various reasons. "If you think there's a summoner in Ichrod we could head there, but you'd have to decide as a group since you four were the ones asked to search, while I was only asked to prevent unnecessary deaths."

 

As the others talked, Florentia decided to simply wait it out, just standing there on the sidelines until the party made a decision.

Frankly, she'd never been much help in talks. Mostly because she couldn't talk.

She glanced up, over to the window that would lead to her room.

Cyrille's taking an awfully long time to wake up today.

Then again, she did gorge herself on food last night.

 

Omin thought over it, and turned to Tern to ask, "You know who that was, right?"

Tern pondered over the question for a considerable amount of time before replying, "Orolis, hm... His last name escapes me. Wasn't there a roster of some kind?"

Tern then at the last sentence turning to face the group, as if asking them all.

 

'Try finding an official, they would likely know.' "Someone that strong would be a powerful ally on this quest."

 

Ivan looked at the two of them and turned around, walking back inside and emerging a minute later with two items, a roughly bound book and a perfectly smooth white sphere. “The Announcer did predict that we would need this for something, so he gave the original to one of the many guards inside, though I think he was expecting you to use it for something else.” He walked over to Joseph and held the book out, though the sphere was slipped into a pouch that was now attached to a chain link near his waist. “We also have horses for travel, at least as long as we're inside the bounds of Tredat, so we can head out almost immediately to try to track down Orolis.”

 

Joseph takes the book and has a quicl glance at its contents.
