Just placin' flags and awesome lights when BAM; this crap starts.


And you know what's weird? It's only when facing in one direction.

I haven't found anything else that is affected.

Not sure what caused it, but it did happen after I pressed and/or held shift while placing a Floran light.
I haven't been able to fix it. Pressing or holding shift doesn't fix it. Restarting the game doesn't fix it. Breaking the blocks doesn't fix it.
I hope it doesn't carry across to other characters. It's a small bug, but it's enough to get in my way.

 

My previous speculation was incorrect.

It isn't just when placing on one side of my character;

I think it's when placing on one side of a block.


If anyone else has had this problem and managed to fix it... please tell me how. i gon cri.

 

Sounds like the Floran light and Floran racial flag have incorrect offset points defined in code.

careful, it can cause you a permanent displacement issue bad enough to re-download if you keep using it

 

Does ANYBODY know how to fix this? I seriously can't place decorative items on the left side of anything.

 

Solutions:

1) Wait for update.
2) Edit assets yourself.

 

If verifying your game cache doesn't work, you can always force assets to redownload by deleting the assets folder and verifying again.

 

you can try wiping the player.config and getting a new one, but back up the file first

assets are the files that the program uses to say what items are and how they interact, for SB they are located under the steam directory, then under the steam apps, then under common, then starbound, then assets, the files are all well labeled, the next thing you would have to find is the objects file, the florian file, and the florian light file, then open the florianlight.object with notebook, its in there somewhere, just post again if you want help

That's not going to fix a bug that's been caused by an inexplicably altered asset.

 

true, but for a temporary fix it can help(when the image is displaced off screen it is rather hard to place)
