Even as it lets out a otherworldly scream, the creature pours all of its hunger and desperation into trying to dominate the shaggoth.
Its amorphous form envelops you, trying to suck your flesh apart as you try and psychically dominate it... It bolts into the darkness and you lose it, but you can hear a sucking noise like a wet 'SHLURRRK' "No! It just... Dove into the organic mass! But whatever it is, it's drawing closer!" "Not until you are sure you can get a clear shot! It's too dark! Regroup by the lantern!" He says, lighting said bright lantern, illuminating much of the snowy night... Had it been any more intelligent, you pound it's consciousness into submission, and the shoggoth loses its shape, melting into a cohesive puddle of black sludge around you... Its brain exposed... Perfect... Not elder thing, but the size will more than work for sustenance...
He backs to him, keeping the gun tight against his shoulder and searching, "We couldn't have just kept moving huh.."
Ron edges forward. "Good hell!" He peers into the distance, trying to spot anything moving, his shotgun braced against his shoulder. "You can't see with your back now can you." He grumbles. --------------- Demina leaps up and instinctively grabs at a few of her knives, confused and scared. She very cautiously steps outside and looks around. "Hello?"
The creature picks up the brain, feeling it with the four tentacles protruding from its face, it then proceeds to slurp up all the memories and thoughts of the shaggoth.
You can't see it in the gloom, but those in front of you do it would see... Thorny looks a lot paler than usual... his breathing a little shaky... You barely catch a glimpse, but you that was all you needed... You have to get away from it... You catch a glimpse of what looks like a terrifying black mass of eyeballs and tentacle limbs, before all of the organs and extremities recede back into it and melts into a puddle of goo... The creature that attacked malcolm standing there... A giant brain in its claws... -------------------- You feel just a little terrified of leaving your tent... Being feral, there's not much of a coretex to get through to the primal brain of the shoggoth... It'll sustain your psionics for at least a few days... The brain itself could feed your body for perhaps a week or longer, as it won't rot...
"Bag what..? Oh right, a euphemism." She makes her way over, making sure to keep near the back of the pack. "What's going on?" Her voice shaking.
"Uhhhm... No need to shoot." He looks on, very confused. "Our Squid friend... Just melted some, eye-blob?" He slowly moves closer, shotgun trained on the creature. "Don'chu try anything quick now." --------------- Demina's curiosity overrides her fear and she inches to the far edge of the group. "Eye-blob?"
-------------------- At the edge of the lantern's light, you spot the black puddle that was what you assume to be the blob. In the center is the squid creature in question, wearing tattered rags, holding the brain in its hands...
Having fed the creature regains much of its intelligence and self control. It speaks aloud in a strange and alien tongue but also projects its words into the minds of all nearby, "I do not wish for war or to hurt you... I simply needed to feed."
It doesn't notice... Too distracted by the brain... "Malcolm, hold your fire... But keep your safety off... I'll try and communicate..." He says, pulling his thick helmet's facemask down and approaching it... ((He wasn't affected by anything beyond hearing the cry)) The cry seems to be from whatever you all were investigating... You hear footsteps approaching behind you... You feel so much better than you have in a long time... Sooo much better than those foul fungi... "If that is all, then we will leave you be... However, we are attempting to gain access to the city... Do you know of any other threats we should be aware of...?" Many come to mind... The Mi-go, the elder things, the deep ones, the yith, the shoggoth, nightgaunts, etc...
