Bug/Issue Coop animals hearts not going up

we have chickens and ducks in a coop but their hearts have not increased since having them. we've had them for about 2 seasons now an nothing is making their hearts go up. we feed them daily, pet them daily, let them out when its not winter, but nothing is getting there hearts up at all. we are unable to complete the quest for the green house as their hearts don't increase to give us big eggs. its only for coup animals, we also have a barn which houses cows and goats and we don't have a problem with their hearts, they go up as they should. this is becoming frustrating as its preventing us from continuing in the game.
