Also, does Chow Mein has a meaning in your language or is it just a name?
For example as much as I know the word '' kebap '' in my language derived from a Persian or Arabic word, '' kabab '' which means '' fry ''

 

In Chinese, "Chow" means to Fry, and "Mein" Means noodle. See, in Chinese Pin Yin, We spell Mein as Mien, which is why I am confused about why the western world spells it that way.

Another cool fact about the Chow Mein is that this is the prototype of the first Instant Noodles. A family chef saw that his boss is always traveling around, selling his merchandise. He wanted to make a form of noodle that can be preserved, and prepared easily, at a moment's notice. So the chef deep fried the noodles to the point where all the water is gone, and the instant noodle was born. You can put it in a bag, it lasts for a long time, and you can put it in boiling water to make noodles out of it.

EDIT: I for some reason cannot find the source to back up my claim. Boy this is embarrassing; I honestly thought this was how instant noodles were made.
