so, i've come up with a new premise for a story. a little more fun, this time, inspired by the line "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic"

in the near future, humanity discovers a cache of alien technology on the moon. using this, they forward science to the point that almost anything is possible, from unlimited energy, to the creation of matter from nothing, and even the theoretically impossible, such as exceeding the speed of light. at the end of this new, golden age, one man dares do what others cannot. he travels back in time, far into the past of human society. but what he finds is not what he expected. beasts unrecorded in history, towering castles,3 larger than any thought possible without their technology. and in the sky, vast rings, far dwarfing the moon. a spectacular world, unlike anything he had imagined. and so, he decided to take it.
