I personally prefer stories that are interconnected, for events that is about to happen to have been foretold in the past in some way. What you've described seemed like a "Villain of the Week" kind of a show, which is okay by itself, but meh overall.

 

Well, it's been the same-ish villains and the same cause stirring trouble, so they are connected. Things have been leading to something of this magnitude, but the word convenient is what revolves in my mind, convenient and weirdly vindictive. It feels very much about destruction for destruction's sake. I have finished this volume, and I did like how it ended, just not how it lead to this. I'll continue to strive forward until I catch up.
Ah, one more thing that bothers me is that all of the time and effort the heroes put into getting stronger, was ultimately for nothing. That's more of my opinion on the heroes themselves than anything else, I'm sure plenty of people would disagree.

Ah. So essentailly it's not even "Villain of the week". It's a huge, long arc that would span the whole series. That may not appeal to me because I'd get bored of it soonish.

I can relate, I did check the show, it looks like something I'd hate but volume 1 was really good, and till like the first half of the volume 2 was decent but I wasn't able to finish volume 2, I could try again later but no idea if it gets better
