Saal's attack left me in a state of death and non-death. I am in literal "what the hell" hell.

Oh man, after like two weeks of looking for fixes, it turns out that XCOM 2: War of the Chosen is just broken and the Devs totally know about it. There are multiple memory leaks, an outright problem with Shen's Gift that has been known about since last October, and then there are just issues with random things, sometimes involving mods that worked fine an hour ago to just the game itself having loading issues. And of course, most people are just no help at all:
"There's nothing wrong with the game; it's your mods!"
I removed all mods and cleaned out where they are stored to make sure: still have the same issues
"There's nothing wrong with the game; it's your drivers!"
Drivers are being updated weekly and even reinstall NET framework and everything else in that regard: still have the same issues
"There's nothing wrong with the game; it's your computer."
It's well above required specs that the game needs: still have the same issues

Well shit...
Pretty sure I'm just going to uninstall at this point, especially since there's the rumor of another DLC in the works and I feel like they're going to get us to buy the fixes.

 

That is entirely fair, and is part of why I never got into it too much, every modpack I built had severe issues and didn't actually run. Which I now see might have just been the game.

I fully suggest playing XCOM Long War if you haven't since that is actually pretty darn stable. Make it Bronzeman with the Omega 13 mod and it's really fun. Save scum all you want, but just know that doing so will kill you.
