I looked in the ships folder under assets~ am curios if there is a safe non game breaking way. I can somehow change the look of the human ship to a diff races?
Yep. In fact, all you should need to do is copy and replace the files. If you want the human's starter loot you just need to change apexStarterTreasure (or whatever race) to humanStarterTreasure. This means you get human crops and the human's broken Hero's sword. Always make a backup just in case though.
