Can't find hard wood.

    I'm trying to build a stable in but I can't find any hard wood all the logs and stumps are gone and I still don't have enough. I tried hacking the barrels in the mines but I just get regular wood from those. Right now I have an iron level axe. Any suggestions?

      In the forest, above the the wizard's tower, there's a gnarled log. I'm not sure the level required for breaking it (I think it was gold though, since I managed to clear my field with gold), but beyond that log is a deeper forest with 3-4 big stumps. They respawn. Not sure how long it takes, but they were there my second visit after I smashed them up when I first found them.
