I do belive it has something to do with the upcoming ranks for us, the members. A list of various ranks, written by our Zailiner. You can find the first drawn one on page 4, drawn by our Inkheart.
But, because of one thing and another I do not belive that is what the badges are for no more. Frankly, I am a tad lost miself on that matter. But if you feel like it, please do make some badges.
