Billiards, anyone? If you play billiards (pool) then you may be interested. Perhaps you have a table and some other materials that you aren't using and have nothing to do in the main game at the moment. Why not craft a pool table? By placing and clicking it, you can activate a mini-game of pool. If you have more than one player in the game, you may have multiplayer matches. And why stop at just billiards? you could also be able to make other table games like foosball or air hockey. Also, if you win a game you have a chance to receive a pool cue or 8 ball. The 8 ball could be place-able or a grenade, if thrown, it will explode into a shower of pool balls, causing damage to multiple enemies. If placed and clicked on, it will "predict" what will happen next, meaning it may cause events in the world to happen faster, more or less enemies to spawn, bosses spawning faster or more often, or even causing enemies to drop better items more often. But to prevent farming, you may only do this once every 30 minutes. And the pool cue works like a spear, and you attack enemies with it just as you would hit the cue ball. it has high knockback and a 20% chance to cause them to roll back like a ball, causing the same effect to any other enemies they come into contact to. New game items: Slot machine: When placed and clicked on, it will cause a view of the slot machine on-screen, and will allow players to enter a bet. The more you bet, the higher the stakes, the higher the stakes, the better prizes you recieve Drawing board: Can be used to create in-game pixel art and such that will be visible to other players. This doesn't have any prizes to offer but it would be a great way to illustrate ideas and rules to other players. Poker: I don't play Poker so i can't give any in-depth description Well, this is much like the slot machine in terms of stakes and prizes, only this game allows you to play with friends, and will give you a special reward for a straight Blackjack: This is a game i do play, so from experience i would like to say, DON'T HIT ON 19!!!!! Anyway, this is a card game where the highest number under 21 wins. Ace and a face card is a blackjack. As I forgot to mention in the poker one, all card games require a player to act as the dealer. this is a game that doesn't have the stakes-and-prizes system, but it does give you twice the pixels you bet if you win. Plus a prize for a Blackjack with an Ace and Jack of Spades Thanks to XRiZUX for the drawing board idea! (forgive me if i spelled that wrong) Specialty win prizes: Slot Machine: The Gambler; a rifle that has a random effect every time shot, and may sometimes misfire Poker: Chip Chakrams (somewhat inspired by the thorn chakram in Terraria ) These weapons are stackable, throwable, and able to be sold at a high price. They may cause an affected enemy to jackpot, killing them instantly and and increasing the amount of pixels and the possibility of rare items to be dropped. This trait is shared by the gambler. Blackjack: Deck of cards; This item allows you to throw cards much like people who do those pointless card tricks do. The cards you throw are retrievable, however, and each set you win has 52 cards. Read 'em and weep.
Minigames could be interesting. Pool? Table Tennis? Foosball? Pinball? Also interesting, items you can win related to the game you played.
I'd like a way of betting your items. I don't care if it's billiards, poker, blackjack, space-cards or whatever. Just give me a way to throw Pixels and items away while betting with other players.
I was thinking more like, you click on the pool table, and that opens a pop-up mini-game of pool/billiard. Example: There could also be other mini-games, like for example a drawing board which you could basically make your own rules on. Like playing hangman, playing guess what I'm drawing, or just planning how to build your next castle or how to build your next space station. What would interest me most would be a drawing board which you could share with anyone in the server. You click on the drawing board and it opens up a new window inside the game, just in lower resolution, where you can draw stuff, erase it, etc.
The picture you put up was pretty much the top-down view discussed in earlier posts, and the drawing board idea sounds like a great idea as to how to illustrate ideas without having to confuse your friends with tedious descriptions.
Yeah, I think it is a good idea to have such mini-games in the game. Would require more programming and graphics, but would be worth it in the end. Just going to put some examples here for what types of mini-games would work: Black Jack (Futuristic and Classic theme options?) Drawing Board (Not really a game but can be anything drawn on a board, more than one person can draw at the same time if allowed by the person which placed it?) Five-In-A-Row (Probably the most basic mini-game which would be played) Thats about all I can think of right now, would be my choice of mini-games Edit: This is a good example why such mini-games would be awesome to have in the game. Edit(2): Actually, Poker (Texas Hold'em) would be the most awesome mini-game in my opinion for gambling some money (pixels?), but I didnt include that since I think it could be harder to get into the game. I mean, if the devs decide to include Black Jack, then also adding Poker (Texas Hold'em) wouldnt be a far stretch.
What about good ol' fashion slot machines? Or am I the only one who still appreciates pulling a lever and hoping you get buried in coins?
