I Understand lots of things, and I forgot a ton of them. But, TBH, Memory loss does run in my family...

Yep, but that's a good idea so it's a no go, the governments of the world would rather just throw money at the issue and let the schools figure it out for themselves. So instead of, say, giving raises to teachers who actually earn said raise or lowering classroom sizes or finding a way for teachers to be able to teach large classes equally, they would rather build a bigger football field/football field/baseball field/gymnasium/whatever or another wing on the school or investing in experimental programs that have no actual proof of working.

 

IMO, Most Goverments Are Dicks.

I remember that one old professor that used to teach people SQL and programming in general at my college. He was very well spoken and smart, and I mean it, you wouldn't even believe how awesome and intelligent the guy was. So one day he came to our class to talk about the finals and he told us the story of how he managed to get into the jury/commission who essentially would mark our tests, it wasn't just "some" random commission though, I believe it was like the head of the Scottish computing department commission or something like that (I don't even remember what the title was, it was hard to remember).
Anyway he started talking about how they come up with tests, marking schemes, the general HNC/HND programme and all that... let me just say it was very, very sad to hear him talk about the whole educational system in general. Basically there's a bunch of pretty much random people who have no computing knowledge/experience at all, they just literally google/reseach the possible questions/solutions and all that and slap it all together to form the tests, exams and everything and the worst of it all is how they come up with the learning programme - instead of giving the students more practical work they just try to remove as much of it as they possibly can, replacing all the practical work with written assessments and so on...
Then he told us that he actually came up to the rest of the jury/commission team with an idea of giving students more practical work, work placements and so on, basically all the good stuff a normal student would like to get, right? But instead of accepting and even thinking about his proposition they all voted to reject his new learning scheme plan straight away and that's where his little adventure with them ended, he left them the same day, then he retired from college.

Education has now become getting the best numbers by any means necessary for bragging rights, it seems. I don't like it one bit, and this story makes me sad.
