Is it either that hackers just don't care about macs (to learn how?), too few people use macs, or is it that macs are just harder to infect?

too few people use them, macs aren't that hard to infect, iOS has plenty of viruses because of it's popularity, but OSX is only really used by hipsters and the technologically illiterate, so the viruses it does get are fairly simply and few

 

Macs are intrinsicly harder to infect, due to:

• sandboxed processes
• executable privileges
• NO auto-run anythings

A well-made Linux has all the same features. Windows... does not.

I'd like to note: there is no way to infect either iOS or OSX without user error being the root cause, which is not true with windows.

OLDER versions Windows are basically hell in a CD. Newer ones are... Better, but not amazing.

I'd like to note: that's at best apple optimistic advertisement, just because OSX is difficult to crack and infect doesn't mean it can't be done, they said the same thing about TOR encryption, which is the most elaborately confusing proxy you can use, it's like trying to find a single drop of water in a high speed river, then the NSA did it, give somebody money and time and OSX can be cracked wide open like anything else
