Odd, it runs for me most of the time, though, I do sometimes see that error, but only when I quit (luckily after saving).

I really do like how helpful the error messages are, don't you?

Hi, I have Windows XP and with Sammy DCL it worked, played nice and smooth. But after the last updates i'm unnable to run the game again. So the fix for XP actually break the game for me.

Yup, I'm running windows 7. I can't figure out the problem. I've tried literally everything I can think of, so I guess we'll have to wait for a dev to solve this one.

I feel like the game not even turning on is a bit bigger of a deal then balancing issues, and adding a grappling hook...

Here's what is says when I try to start the game on just the normal "Launch Starbound" button from the Client:

Every time I start it I get a different set of numbers. Here's an example from another time:

But when I click "Launch Starbound (OpenGL) I get the same kind of access violation screen with a different list of Letters/Numbers. Also, in my task manager it acts like the game is still running. I am currently on Windows 8 64 bit. I have tried running the launcher as an admin and when I would hit "launch starbound" it would actually launch another launcher and not the actual game. Hopefully I provided something for you guys to work with. Keep up the good work!

This is EXACTLY what I get. OpenGL provides me with a different set of numbers. The process still runs in the task manager. But I'm Win7 64 bit.

Interesting....I think I might have found what could be the issue.

Are any of you guys using Norton Internet Security? Found one user who says that the problem dll was called sysfer.dll. That's from Symantec Endpoint Protection (Norton). That's one thing I haven't known till now. I've tried turning off my antivirus, but the dll would still exist, obviously. I'm not sure how to fix it though, but this might explain what's causing the issue, at least for me.

I use it. I've turned it off though and I still have a error.

Right, but this is a dll. Turning it off wouldn't fix the problem. I think this might be our issue.

That said, I don't think there's much we can do to fix it. But if we can pinpoint the problem it'd likely make things a lot easier for the devs. I'll see if I can figure anything out, but I'm not sure.

Edit- Even if it's not that file in particular, it could be a comparability issue with Norton. Or at least some version of Norton. Who knows. This makes no sense to me. :/

I would agree with that.. and another thing is not one dev has stopped in and replied to one of us...

The worst part is that i've tweeted, molly, bartwe, and tiy, just asking them to acknowledge the error, and they ignore me. They are busy, and i get that, but holy hell.

Yeah, I've tweeted & emailed them too. But they're getting a wubillion emails and tweets right now, so it's understandable. I'm sure they'll get around to fixing this sooner or later. Till then I'll just keep trying to work around it on my own ^.^

Oh, Exi1e, do you happen to be using Norton as your antivirus? Somebody else had a similar issue because of a compatibility error, so I'm curious.

Woah, I forgot to post this, sorry! Honestly I've posted the problem in so many threads I forgot this time!

Operating System: Windows 7, 64 Bit
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU. Q8200 @ 2.33 GHz.
    RAM Amount: 8 Gigs
    RAM Brand/Model: DDR2
    Motherboard: (Dell) Intel 0N826N
    Video Card: Radeon HD 6850
Video Card Driver Version: 12.104.0.0 (This is the most up-to-date)
Hard drive type: HDD (Not an SSD, I wish!)
Install Path to game: The Usual (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Starbound)

Edit: I might as well throw the error in here so it's all in one place.

For some reason, my video card driver acts funny. When I installed it originally It gave me a generic error right at the end of the process, and I have to update the driver to the one already installed to make it work whenver I restart my computer. Bizarre, and I have no idea why it does this. But it doesn't seem like it'd be related. From what others have said, I'd guess this error results from dll incompatibility with other processes. It's not Norton like I thought earlier, but it could be some other things. :/
