Windows 7 64-bit professional is what I use personally. However, seeing as you've already installed windows 8.8.1, first you need to tell me what issues you're having.
Don't worry I just did a hard reset, I was afraid that it would delete all my documents however since I was reverting it back to 4 days ago (when I got the computer) but luckily it kept all my data.
