Not really, since pixel games generally don't work well with 3D. (Minecraft being an exception, since everything is square.)

If it doesn't get utterly boring and stupid after the first couple times *cough*minecraft*cough* then sure.

Wouldn't work out. A lot of features Starbound has do NOT convert well from a 2D to a 3D plane.

I wouldn't. Though if it had the same general gameplay in it as Starbound with non-pixelated graphics I would.

I generally hate pixelated games in 3d.
Minecraft was nice, but I didn't like the style. A little higher quality would've been nice.

  13. There are games around that can provide one experience similar to what Starbound offers in some areas on 3D.
This is a more simple casual game the way it's done, that will most likely end up pretty awesome, but it would require one hugeness but HUGENESS of work to such thing work on 3D exactly as it is now.

Honestly i'm not a 2D fan, neither a Pixel Art one, Terraria is one of the first that did convince me to play, so i started to follow a bit more this kind of games.

Definitely! 2d is fine, but there's something to be said for having 3 dimensions to work in when building cool stuff.

Inb4 Starbound mod for Minecraft. :iswydt: It could be called.. Starcraft. :giggle:

I would! It'd be a cool thing to experience! As said earlier in the thread, some things won't convert well into 3D. But overall it sounds like it could be fun!

A game with some of the same ideas as Starbound in 3D can obviously work and we're already talking about Minecraft.

You can't really move that charming 2D aesthetic to 3D though. Unless your name is 3D Dot Game Heroes, you get a pass because you are a beautiful and charming game.

I think the 2D one will be definitive.
