There is a single Player indeed, you can see it if you watch bartwe on twitch streaming.

But i dont know if you have to log in to an account thats confirming that you have a legal key.

Multiplayer shouldn't put much of a dent in that 10 gigabytes.

Slow internet will put a dent in gameplay expeirience

Not really since there is a single player mode that doesn't require internet. Even if you have to log in to an account, you shouldn't have any issues playing single player

Its not so hard to find a server where the admin's keep a eye out for it.
Just to say there wil alway's be trouble makers but with a good community supported server the chance is smaller in my experience. But well its just my experience and opinion.

I think you use UMTS (3G) or HSDPA (3.5G)
I played a long time with this until i got a new flat. And i played EVE Online, World of Warcraft and such Stuff. Jeah the Ping was between 100 and 200ms but i never needed my volume because of this games becaus e the traffic between server and you is minimal, i don't think starbound needs more than EVE or WoW, because both are real MMO's and starbound is in fact no MMO.
