1. Welcome to the Art + Literature sections! Some things to keep in mind:
    • It's a good idea to specify whether or not you're looking for critique from your fellow members. Please don't let friendly criticism turn into an all-out flame war.
    • Art and literature often deal with mature subjects. This is fine, but please keep in mind that we'd like to keep things PG-13. Don't let discussions get out of hand, and if they do, please alert a moderator.

    um...whatchoo talkin about?

    A. you mean to resize it?
-I feel ya. but fin--print screen
    makes it go pretty painlessly

    B. You save out indiv images, then make a gif?
    -can't be right?

  3. I don't have a program that makes gifs, so I have to save individual frames and then use a crappy online gif maker. That's what I was talking about.

    that would suck...

graphics gale has animation features but it isn't free
    I luv it though

    http://www.aseprite.org/
google said it was a pheasible alternative to graphics gale
    free and open source
Haven't used it personally but, it might aid you on your quest...

If you use GIMP you can save it as a .gif animation where each layer is a frame. And GIMP is free and honestly has like everything in the world. It's amazing.

before graphics gales, I used game maker...7? lmao
that was terrible but it did animations

never really tried gimp - with gale I want for nothing...
I use sketch book pro for drawings, cuz I got free from a college course
it's fun to use, but nothing compared to photoshop or gimp I'd imagine
in terms of what you can do with it

digi paintings, and I'm using painter - don't often digi paint too much hassle lol

  7. Gimp and ASE are both good for animating.

Im using GIMP, so all i have to do is create 30 layers. Takes more time though, but a lot easier.

  10. It's the classic way of animation. You'd have to live by that :P

graphics gales has photoshop/gimp layers, + it works with frames for animation + and it has easy onion skin

so each indiv frame of your animation can have however many layers you want
and onion skin is super useful

so you can kind of imagine yourself using transparent paper(layers) taking pictures each time you complete a pic(frame) I guess?

Edit: Sweet job on the nova kids design

    I have 3 options:
    1. Photoshop (not every one can afford )
    2. Gimp (hard to learn )
    3. Photoscape (has no proper editing like gimp or photoshop, but it will animate, and it does a great job)
If you rather not use the top two, i highly recommend Photoscape to put all the frames together into a gif. It easy to use and simple!

  13. Alright, I'll look up all these programs tomorrow and see if I get anywhere! [IMG]

It's still fun looking at entries, though, so the thread is still fun to follow! [IMG]

Oh come now - the cool thing about doing random weekly contests, is that it takes you out of your comfort zone to try and make something you might not have thought to make by yourself.

At the very least, its good practice and fun.

One of the most enjoyable parts of creating art is coming up with cool ideas ya know =p

@Mianso - that bit about the transparent paper stuff was a play on a comment someone made previously about being stuck in the traditional ways of pixel art of all thing...?
