Wasn't able to test this again to see if I could reproduce, but here's what happened:

    1. Start starbound server from the launcher
    2. Start starbound from the launcher and join the local server
    3. Have a friend join the server and invite them to your party.
    4. Click their portrait and beam to their ship.
    5. Beam down to their world.
    6. Now click their portrait again, and don't select anything from the pop up menu.
    7. Click elsewhere on the screen (I expected the pop up menu to close here, and it didn't - it stayed open)
    8. With the pop up menu still open get killed by an enemy.
    9. After you have died and the respawn animation plays, you should re-appear back on your ship with the pop up menu still open.
    10. Click "beam to ship" on the pop up menu.

    Expected Result:
You beam to the other player's ship

    Actual Result:
The beam up animation plays and your character disappears. At this point after saving and quitting any further attempts to beam to the other player's ship resulted in this error. Even closing and reopening the game didn't solve it. The only solution was to restart the server. At some point we also both had a "_" at the end of our names too (only in the chat UI, not in the server console).
