Now first of all, because I know most of you don't know the meaning of the word

Meme (n.) "an element of a culture or system of behavior that may be considered to be passed from one individual to another by nongenetic means, esp. imitation."

Just so you know, most of these memes are proper memes, people who make a "new meme" however have not achieved this unless it catches on, for example, cyberspy successfully created a new meme when he made this post and people started imitating it:

In fact the use of the word "meme" to mean "funny picture with captions" is by definition a meme of it's own.
