Yeah but that's now what I meant! Just darker shading. EDIT: I hope you don't mind that I edited your monster a little bit, I just want you to grasp what I meant So you see, I made the outlining a lot darker, also darkened the overall color scheme. And lowered the saturation a bit so the colors aren't so strong, making it a bit more pleasant for the eyes. Example: Also I noticed you use a lot of shades for color transition, in other words Anti-Aliasing. Which isn't used in Starbound that much actually. They tend to use no more than 3-4 diffirent shades per color.
I don't mind it a single bit! I appreciate that you took your time to show me. It certainly looks better with a more defined outline and a bit mellower colors, thank you for showing me. OT: Made some simple iron tools. And a sword. Edit: Tried applying your advice some of my other sprites. I think they look better now. What do you think?
Thank you guys! Also shoutout to Affero for providing me with criticism. Taking your advice made my sprites look better. Here is another sword I've been working on: Quick edit; realized it looked a bit weird. Fixed.
Excuse me while I watch this wonderful thread. This is great work, and I love how open you are to criticism and how you really put it to good use. Also, how awesome was the Razor sword? I wish that was the final version in Majora's Mask, but I like the gilded sword too.
Haven't been making a lot of sprites in starbound style unfortunately, been making these a bit more detailed, with light source form the top left. Been practising since my last sprites posted so they look a lot better I think:
