Modding Discussion So I'm making a mod that expands dialogs...

Okay, specifically, dialog between mod races, since it's weird that other modded races' villagers don't talk to my Avali character other than the default greetings etc.

So, even though I already written about 100 lines so far, I still need more. This is where you, the users of this forum, can contribute. Just write a line of dialog that would fit both races interacting with each other. To make it easy to understand (and code), just copy-paste and fill out the following 'form'.

From: (mod race)
To: (mod race)
Dialog: (fill in)

Example:
From: Avali
To: Kineptic
Dialog: "How can I learn magic? Do you have a magic school?"

Everyone's lines will get included, unless it contradicts with the lore of Starbound or both races' lore. So for example if you wrote in a Hylotl that likes it in a Lava planet, that's out.
So, let the dialoguing begin!

P.S. if you're wondering what races are in, they're modded races that can work with the latest update (Glad Giraffe). Good luck!

As you can see, it's still missing a lot of conversation lines. And that's still missing the parts for Munari, Sergal and Kangaru villagers.

How I figure out what species goes in:
-If a race has villager NPCs and a generated dungeon that has those villagers, they're in the From part of the conversation.
-If a race can be played in the current version of the game (Glad Giraffe), they're in the To part of the conversation.

So yeah, anyone else has more conversation lines? Just imagine you're the villager of a race, and then another race passes by in front of you. What do you say?

Also, why aren't the Lucario, Lopunny and Gallavoir included in your project? The Lucario have an update patch in their discussion thread, I am sitting on a Lopunny update patch for Lopunny Improvements, and the Gallavoir are always kept updated to match current game...

Ah yeah, forgot to mention. If I forgot a race or two, mention it here and I'll add them in the mod. All I need is a line or two to start with them.
Also I'll probably have to add a readme on how to remove the dialogues of the races that you don't want/have in the final mod.

Not sure how much I can help out, but I can give a little information on the Nebulites.
When interacting with Novakids:
Novakids are just as knowledgeable about the universe as Nebulites are, but they keep this knowledge to themselves. They aren't too fond of Nebulites, but not in an agressive way, they just try to ignore them, tell them to go away, ect.

When interacting with Florans:
Unlike the other races, Florans remember everything about the Nebulites. Other races tend to dismiss it as nonsense however due to the primitive nature of the Florans.

When interacting with Avians:
This one contains information I haven't included in the mod's story yet, so it goes in a nice little spoiler tag.

Avians often mistake Nebulites for Kluex and for a very good reason. The Wanderer that hangs out at Covenant was formerly a mediator between the Nebulites and Avians named Kluex. Over time his image was changed to be more of a godlike figure, and became the basis of Avian religion.

All other races don't really have any interactions yet, other than getting headaches from trying to remember the Nebulites, but I am trying to work out some for them.

 

A new racial Crossover? I could have some fun with this Sadly the three races I know the most about (Peglaci, Avali and Kobold) are either extremely popular and thus got a lot of screentime and/or currently not up to date :S Clearly need to play more as my Nebulite or with the SBG races...

 

I have a race that's a serious WIP but coming along -- I'll have a preliminary thing once I have something that is more polished and with enough content. As an author (and since they have a distinct speaking quirk, I'd be the only authority right now), could I write lines ahead of time to have that ready to go when I have a working public release?

I wholly support this, and would be willing to include the Avali sections in the main Avali mod, if possible.

 

Seems to me like this particular quote implies that the Avali come from desert planets and are finding that relatable to the Avikan. This is actually not the case. The Avali spawned from an ice planet that's like -40 degrees Celsius and they use [insert technobabble here] to keep cool.

 

Ooh, that would be swell. And yes, I've been monitoring progress on the Simurgh, they look very different from the other races - and thus I'll be waiting for the eventual release!

Ah yeah, sometimes I forgot that because I run into Avali desert settlements more often than Avali snow planet settlements. But no worries, mistakes and misconceptions could be included as well, they are part of conversations after all. EDIT: After re-reading the lines, yeah, that's right weird. Edited the 'too' into 'eh' for better fit.

Well, so far I've written them as causing headaches from 'natives to the galaxy' races. So the Avikans, who comes from another galaxy, wouldn't have the headache part, but still think they're similar to their galaxy's ancient progenitor-style race.
But do tell me if this is incorrect, and I'll make it so everyone has headaches when seeing Nebulites.
