It's ingenious! It's Destructible Blocks!

This looked like a troll thread at first,but good idea nonetheless

 

This is what I thought when I read this thread, but with a little more detail work it would be a feasible thing for the game.

 

Oh god I read that as igneous.

That said I like both ideas of speed and explosions destroying weaker blocks.

Tiy has already confirmed rocket launchers. What good is a rocket launcher if not for busting through walls?

Also, since it's related but not possibly deserving of its own topic:
Why shouldn't each block have its own durability? Dirt and rock would have a low durability, but steel or metal walls would take a lot of determined effort to break through.

 

Breaking into an enemy base:
"Alright, everybody jump at the wall on 3"

 

I was thinking for a asteroid dust type boss! who shoots dust like blocks where as you shoot them with you ray gun (if implemented ) and they turn into dust!! If you miss you take damage .

Somebody is just gonna grab a drill and jump off a cliff while spinning it and it will break through the wall.

Heh, in Starbound who needs freakin boring, regular arrows, we can have LASER ARROWS! that explode...

 

I actually feel this is a great idea! After I had read about the whole "breaking through the ceiling" part, I felt this would be major fun! But good chance this would mean any enemy mobs of the sort could probably do this to you. Oh well though. It's totally worth it.

 

Now could we drive vehicles through walls? Cause I would love to ghost ride a truck covered in explosives into a base.

I love this idea!!
It opens up a lot of possibilities for PvP.

 

The whole concept of breakable blocks, being able to plant explosives or crash through them etc;
It opens a whole new world of mechanics and events! imagine. being able to jump through weak wooden beams with enough force behind you to reveal new areas, create traps... and having materials like metal walkways that are stronger and can hold bigger weights. the possibilites are endless!

i Wonder if gravity for blocks will be implemented in witch case that would make pvp even more badass

 

....like the game couldn't get bigger and harder already.
